It’s a directory. We’re not a marketplace and never touch the transaction — we point you at the maker and you deal with them directly. We have no commercial relationship with the businesses listed, and being listed doesn’t mean a business has agreed to anything, or even knows we exist.
A tier is our editorial assessment, formed in good faith from the evidence publicly available to us at the time, against the published standard. It is not a certification, an audit, a guarantee or a warranty, and it isn’t a statement about quality, ethics or employment practice. Where the origin of a main material isn’t clearly evidenced, a business gets Silver until it is — that reflects the state of the evidence, not a judgement about the business.
Supply chains change, sometimes quietly. A listing that was accurate when we researched it may not be accurate today. If a detail matters to your purchase, ask the business.
You have a standing right of reply. If you think a listing, a tier or an evidence note is wrong, tell us with whatever evidence you have and we’ll review it promptly. If we got it wrong we’ll correct it and say so. If you’d rather not appear at all, ask and we’ll remove you — we don’t make anyone argue their way off the map.
No business can pay to be listed, promoted, re-ordered or upgraded. We carry no advertising and take no commission on anything you buy. Independence is the whole point of the exercise; if that ever changes, it will be stated plainly here and on the about page before it happens.
We link out to makers, producers and sources. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content, their products or their own privacy practices.
The text, research, photography, the tiering standard, the map dataset and the Grown and Made name, seal and G&M monogram belong to Grown and Made UK CIC. Browse, share links and use the map freely for your own non-commercial purposes. Please don’t scrape, bulk-copy or republish the dataset, and don’t use the Grown and Made marks — including the Gold and Silver marks — on packaging, listings or marketing without our written permission. Business names and logos belong to those businesses and are shown to identify them.
Want to use our research in a piece of journalism, a report or a class? Ask — the answer is nearly always yes, with a credit.
Don’t use the site unlawfully, don’t try to break or overload it, and don’t submit suggestions you know to be false or malicious about a competitor. Suggestions are checked before anything is published.
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t lawfully be limited — and none of it affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Beyond that, the site is provided as it is. We can’t promise it will always be available, complete or free of error, and we’re not liable for loss arising from relying on a listing or from your dealings with a business you found here.
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. They’re governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
