About Grown and Made

Britain is full of people who genuinely make and grow excellent things — and most shoppers never find them. The default is to open Amazon, where convenience wins and the money largely leaves the local economy. Grown and Made exists to answer one simple question: what’s made or grown near me, and how can I buy it?

Every pin on the map is a business that genuinely makes or grows what it sells in the UK. Not “designed in Britain”. Not branded, printed or packed here. Made here.

The standard

Gold Fully made or grown in the UK — including the main material. The fabric was milled here, the clay was dug or prepared here, the metal was worked from bullion at a British bench, the produce was grown on the farm.

Silver Genuinely made in the UK, but the main material or some stock is imported — a Northampton shoe made from imported calf leather, a pot thrown here in imported porcelain, a farm shop that stocks some imports alongside its own produce.

Where we can’t clearly evidence the origin of the main material, a business gets Silver until it’s confirmed — we never give the benefit of the doubt for Gold. Every listing carries a public evidence note so you can judge for yourself.

What we are not

We’re not a marketplace — we never touch the transaction, we just point you at the maker. And no business can pay to be listed, promoted, or upgraded. Tiers can’t be bought; only evidence moves you up.

Who’s behind this

Grown and Made is an independent project, built and researched by hand. If you spot an error — or know a maker who belongs here — please suggest a business or get in touch.
