Gold means fully made or grown in the UK, including the main material. Silver means genuinely made in the UK but with an imported main material or some imported stock. It’s important to emphasise that the Gold and Silver standard is nothing to do with the quality of the goods being made or the reputation of the business. Purchasing from Silver businesses is still a very helpful boost to the UK economy. The only difference between Gold and Silver is the supply chain of the materials used. Think of it more of a factual statement instead of a judgement.
No. Nobody pays for a listing, a badge, or placement — and nobody can. Tiers are decided by evidence alone, and every listing shows its evidence publicly.
We research and verify each listing against public evidence from the business’s own website, reports, articles or asking them directly. However, we are always looking to add great UK businesses to the map, so if you know of one please suggest a business; every suggestion is then checked against the standard before it appears.
